day 33: My lulu gal

day 33: My lulu gal

Hop high my lulu gal!

I found Lulu –aka Lularoe– at the Goodwill, hanging out with a bunch of her sisters.  So I brought them all home with me and got them comfortable in my closet..  One, I had on under my Woolamina yesterday — and I loved the way it felt.  Today, after feeling so emboldened by the ladies of the #100daydresschallenge FB page…. I layered this one on top.

Crazy thing is… I would probably never even looked at this dress… or owned so many leggings before the #100daydress challenge.  I really am starting to change the way I look at clothes and my wardrobe  And I am having a BLAST!!

I am even thinking about cutting off my hair — going from Katherine Hepburn in African Queen to Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s!  Am I crazy??

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Dancing, blogging, a ukulele zoom jam, and walking the dogs, cooking, and maybe some knitting.

Here’s what I came up with for today!

lulu gal

I am not sure about the competing necklines, but I’ll tell you, it was comfortable, warm and really fun to weal

Lularoe dress over the Rowena.

lulu gal

I paired it up with some black tights from Old Navy and some great KEEN mary janes.

These are some of the most comfortable shoes around.  MORE HERE!

lulu gal

I think this dress will also be perfect on her own in the future… in about 66 days! And I can see wearing her to dance in… lots of sass.

lulu gal

I added a short clip of me practicing the Tennessee Walking Step in my socks in my RV.  Rainey, of course, is helping!! To see more dancing…please visit my page HERE!

And if you Join, make sure to tell Carla I sent  you!!

Thanks for joining me on my lulu gal post.  Stay tuned for the next 67 days of #tracywearswool!

appalachian flatfooting and clogging: week 3

I had so much fun in my Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging week 3!

And the best part, I can see that I am making progress.

My motto for this is “PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION.”  Because at 62, I decided I don’t need to be perfect. Or even come close to it!!

Week 3 is all about shuffles and slides!! It is a lot of fun. But took a lot to get my brain wrapped around the sequences.

Since this is only my 3rd week of formal dance training– of any sort– ..other than a couple of ballet lessons a zillion years ago… I’m going to give myself a break.

I’m going to do it, own it, and LOVE IT. . Even if it is only one small part. LOVE IT. Even if it is just for the way it makes me feel. LOVE IT. Even if just for the fact that I felt brave enough to try something …that someone once had put me down for. LOVE IT. Yeah baby!

So I practiced for at least an hour every day.  And I squeezed in some little tidbits of practice time here and there – in line at the market… making coffee, doing the dishes.

And I enjoyed every moment!

Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging Videos – Week 3

Video 1 the first shuffles and slides sequence that I learned this week — the calypso + back step slide.  Since I learned it first, I practiced it more… and you can tell.  This is the longest video — about a minute!

Video 2 also shuffles and slides– side slides + barnyards + chug behinds. This one was a little tougher… especially those awkward side slides… whew!

Only about half a minute long.

Video 3 of shuffles and slides — samanthas + turkeys.

I couldn’t quite wrap my head around this… and do it with the music. At not least when I was trying to video it. I would like to say that I don’t get nervous making videos … but in fact, I do…  This one is about 20 seconds.

This week, I was proud of myself for putting on my big girl dress and pushing myself to learn these sequences.  And for remembering that it is PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION that is important.

Because really, I just want to have a good time!

Hey — to see more about this super cool dress that I found… and to check out something else I am doing –Check out my last blog post HERE!

day 32: just dance

day 32: just dance

Just Dance!

Dancing is not something that comes naturally to me.  Trust me, it takes me a lot of effort to get around the right/left issue of my dyslexia.  But it also gives me the opportunity for a good belly laugh… and that is good for the soul.

Today was our dance class — online. So I decided that I would put on a dress… or in this case 2.

Coming back from Portland Yesterday, I had to stop at the Scapoose Goodwill to drop some things off… and of course, I was drawn inside.

And I found 5 Lularoe dresses, brand new, priced at $10.. but they were the color of the week so were half off that.   I don’t happen to own any LuLaRoe anything… but have seen them on Facebook.    They are super colorful and stretchy knitted material.

I couldn’t decide, so they all came home with me. I am going out of my comfort zone and experimenting with them.

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Dancing, blogging, and walking the dog.  And… of course, communal campfire … because it was nice!

Here’s what I came up with for today!

just dance

I am not sure this is the MOST flattering of outfits — especially with the Ro bunched up and the shirt tied at the waist.  But… it was perfect for dancing.

Lula dress under the Rowena.

just dance

I topped it all with my very favorite GAP denim shirt with pearl snaps.  And of course GAP leggings, and my dancing shoes made by  FYRE: oxfords perfect for toe-tapping and heel stomping!!

just dance

I have been having such a great time with this dancing course.  If you want some more information about it… you can go to my page HERE!

And be sure to tell Carla that I sent you!

Shirt not tied up looks a little MORE flattering…. but not as much SASS!

And check out the video of me with one of the sequences from this week!

Day 31: what a day for a daydream

Day 31: what a day for a daydream

What a day for a daydream… in fact, what a year!

Seems like I have spent a lot of time this past year daydreaming about what to do when “this” is all over.  I suppose it is the ultimate diversionary tactic… the best in creative avoidance.

And although it is good to have plans… I can’t help all the time that i have actually squandered by not living in the present.  How much more productive could I have been.  My Lord, I could have been fluent in 3 languages, and written that novel!

However, daydreaming serves a huge purpose, I think.. STRESS RELIEF.  And so i think at least once a day… we should break into…. “What a day for a daydream.”  At least the whistling part!

What’s in store today:

A few things to take care of, a few errands, and then drive up along the Columbia River to the Washington Coast.

day for a daydream

Here’s what I came up with for today!

day for a daydream

I am loving this dress — first, everything goes with it.  Iron Gray was a great choice.  Second… super comfortable! I paired up with an old pink H&M sweatshirt… great loungability.

Earings are from Arizona. Glasses are Zenni Optical.

day for a daydream

Black GAP down vest over the top, and GAP leggings as well.

The Purple plastic woven bag is something I picked up in Los Algodones, Mexico — where I go to the dentist.   I should have snagged several.  Next time….

Rainey is a special needs rescue bulldog from Lily’s Pad Rescue.  She wears diapers because she has spina bifida.  But she gets around pretty well.  More on the dogs HERE!

I Gotta get my dancing shoes on… practice time is upon me.  These are fabulous FYRE oxfords perfect for dancing!!

And the snow is finally melting in Portland!

day 30: banana republic

day 30: banana republic

Down to the Banana Republic. Down to the tropical sun.

Sounds pretty good to me, as I sit freezing my fanny off in the Pacific Northwest.  Really, never thought I would see snow at the beach, but there you have it.   Cold, Icy and Windy.

But at Number 1’s house, she has the best shower in the universe.  And her stackable washer and dryer are in the bathroom, so you can put your towel and turn the dryer on to warm up the towel.  Almost like being in a banana republic. Warm, muggy.  Just without the bugs!!

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Other than a short trip to Trader Joe’s, it was a stay at home kind of day.  Which means cozy flannel shirts and uggs.

I practiced the sequences for the latest humbling experiences – shuffles and slides —  it’s for my Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging class.  Not sure why it is taking so long to learn — I blame dyslexia. The right and left thing is … well pretty baffling! You can track my dancing progress HERE.

I also finished  my SOCK! I could hardly put it down.  It is so much fun watching it knit up with the different stripes.  (I LOVE this Self Striping Sock Yarn!  Learn More HERE)

I am thinking of starting at the other end of the yarn ball, so the stripes on the next sock will be reversed!  Might be fun.  These will definitely be a lot of fun with my hiking boots.

banana republic

Here’s what I came up with for today!

banana republic

Who doesn’t love a comfy flanel shirt, slightly oversized, super soft, and very comforting.  This one, I picked up on my last trip to the thrift store.   New, without tags… and $2. Score.

banana republic

Uggs are ancient, and leggings are from the GAP.

These are my two furbabies.  Dude is almost 9 — cattle dog/rat terrier mix, rescued from a kill shelter in Arizona 8 years ago.

banana republic

Rainey is a special needs rescue bulldog from Lily’s Pad Rescue.  She wears diapers because she has spina bifida.  But she gets around pretty well.  More on the dogs HERE!

banaba republic

How fast does that little bulldog move…. pretty darn fast!  And she hears that camera click… and want’s in on the action!  Go Rainey!  Dude is hiding…

Tomorrow — back to the beach!

day 29: my dogs and me

day 29: my dogs and me

Life is good for my dogs and me.

Just me and the four-legged children.  The others have fled the nest — two in San Francisco, one in New York, and one in Portland.

I am currently at Number 1’s house in Portland.  She is away, so I have taken over.  Nice.  So if you see me in a lot of different clothes…. well, I am borrowing from her closet!

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Cold and snow in Portland.  Yeah… I think I’ll stay in.

So I logged into my zoom rhythm class and beat my bodrhan a bit.  And I worked on learning the sequences for the latest module – shuffles and slides —  it’s for my Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging class.  I am still  getting the hang of it — but then I started out not knowing ANYTHING! You can track my dancing progress HERE.

I also worked on my SOCK! I could hardly put it down.   Learn more HERE. I LOVE this Self Striping Sock Yarn!  Learn More HERE

dogs and me

Here’s what I came up with for today!

dogs and me

It started out with a button down knitted dress, that I think might be best worn as a duster , or open as a sweater.  It is from Territory Ahead, and haven’t really worn it — mostly because as a dress, it doesn’t seem overly flattering.

dogs and me

Little black boots are GH Bass, but I got them from Goodwill — looks like they were never worn.  Very Comfortable.  And I like the laces.

dogs and me

I think I like the dress belted under this sweater… keeps it from looking all too blobby.

Photobombing by Rainey – Me and my dogs… or one of them.  The other hides when I start taking photos!

dogs and me

Meh… I think I like the sweater open… Just Meh.

It is super comfortable, though.   I borrowed a belt from Number 1, who is a lot smaller, so maybe… if I had a larger belt to go over the red dress….

dogs and me

Thanks for checking in and reading my dogs and me post.  Comment below — do you like red dress open or buttoned?
