My daughter told me… you better shop around!! And that is generally what we like to do. When we are in Portland, we go to one of the Goodwills. However, I found the best ever thrift shop near my home in Long Beach, Washington.
I’ve been to the REACHOUT THRIFTSTORE a few times before, but not since I started the challenge. And … they were having a great sale!!
For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool& — Same dress. 100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.
What’s in store today:
Today, I woke up to chilly weather and rain in Long Beach Washington. After a sleepy, slow morning of coffee, walking the dogs and checking out the woodshed, I pulled on my boots and headed down to the Reachout — in search of some aprons. And maybe some accessories.
Although I am trying to minimize what I own, I look at this as somewhat “renting clothes” — I pay a rental fee when I pick them up and then drop them back off at the store when I am done. Everyone wins.
Reachout serves the youth in the area by running a thriftstore, and donating the proceeds to various youth groups, churches, schools, and youths in need.
Here’s what I came up with for today!
I tried this long infinity scarf on first, but didn’t end up buying it… and now I wish I had. After seeing the photo, I rather like it!
This apron was my FAVORITE find of the day!!
I’m pretty happy with this red canvas, fleece lined vest… by Ralph Lauren. My cost: $2
I love this store!
I ended up buying a total of 3 aprons, a couple of scarfs, some button-down shirts, and a cute little bag I will use for knitting.
Check out my knitting page… and pick up some free patterns!
Plaid apron is reversable with winter theme on the other side. Super handy… since I have to keep my dress in good shape . 83 more days to wear it!
Another infinity scarf — this one came home!!
Third apron — i have had a hard time finding them… so I ended up with 3. $1 each… I was pretty happy.
(That little bag in the front of my cart is for my knitting!)
I’m not going to post all the shirts here today, because I figure that you will be seeing them in future posts.
Honestly, I didn’t plan on buying so much, but it was hard to pass up — with a 75% off sale.
I’ll be donating here soon!

Did I mention that I also found some yarn for proposed sweater #4 for the year? (I had to show great restraint… and only get one!)
My daughter is right — you gotta shop around!
