day 27: rainy day people

day 27: rainy day people

Rainy day people all know there’s no sorrow they can’t rise above. — Gordon Lightfoot

There seems to be a lot of sorrow these days, a lot of things that aren’t exactly working out the way we planned.  But that is life sometimes. Unfortunately. My goal is to just try to be a better person and rise above the sorrows, by focusing on all the good things that life has to offer.

I’ve got a roof over my head, and a car that runs, kids that love me, and parents who are still alive.  I have dogs, and a beach to walk on. I have enough food, and clothes to wear. I make enough money to pay my bills and have joy in my life.  I laugh, and sing, and dance daily. I have a lot to be thankful for. And I am grateful for that.

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

More rain and wind. And if I go to Portland tomorrow, I will probably get some snow and ice.

I started a new Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging module — and this segment is going to take some practice. You can track my dancing progress HERE.

Oh… and made some progress on my Valentine’s socks…. Loving this selfstriping socks.  You can get this yarn — and it’s on sale for $15 while supplies last — click HERE, and use the code TRACY15 for an ADDITIONAL 15 % discount on all the yarn and other great products from Darn Good Yarn!!

Here’s what I came up with for today!

rainy day people

Vintage Pendelton shirt, 100% cotton, great plaid. Perfect for rainy day people and the Pacific Northwest.

The sweater is from Columbia, but I am pretty sure I picked it up from Goodwill for a song. Love the metal buttons.

Today’s Layers: Woolamina and Gray Gap Leggings topped with the Pendelton Shirt, and Columbia cable knit sweater.

Lap warmer is Rainey.  She and I an the Dude live on the Beach in Southern Washington in our RV.

day 26: wooly bully

This photo makes me look a little like a bully! But a wooly bully would be ok.

I am not quite sure what I was thinking when I put together this outfit. Seriously.  It started with the shirt.  Which I love, even though it is 2 sizes too big.  Then, I thought, aprons are good.  And I haven’t really worn this one…

The weather was a bit nicer, so I headed out to the woodshed.  Because there’s nothing like a woman in a dress hanging out in the woodshed with a huge apron on.  Not to mention the shirt….

What’s in store today:

A little warmer today… rain instead of snow.

I kept up with my dance practice — and the rigor mortis is starting to subside on my legs and backside. It is a workout!  You can see my newest blog post about that HERE.

And I practiced online with Youtube for my Bodrhan.  Still trying to get my stick hand moving faster. Timing is everything!

Oh… and I started some new wooly socks… stay tuned for progress photos.  You can get this yarn HERE, and use the code TRACY15 for a 15 % discount on all the yarn and other great products from Darn Good Yarn!!

Here’s what I came up with for today!

wooly

OK.. I like these photos a bit better! Whew.

Earrings are coral and come from New Mexico.  I just love them, and now that I have thinned out my jewelry box, I will be able to find them.

wooly

The pin-tucked tuxedo shirt is from Gloria Vanderbuilt. 100% cotton, as old as the hills, and comfy as all get out. I almost had it in the donate bag… because it is  super large, but I like it as a big smock.

wooly

The denim apron is from Ikea. I got it to bar-b-que, but it is pretty handy with the kangaroo pocket.

For those who don’t know I live in my RV full time… more about my RV lifestyle HERE!

wooly

More on the Apron — I don’t think it was very expensive, and it was the last one there.  At around $8,  this sturdy heavy apron will last quite a while.  Extra long ties — one size fits most.

day 19: sunny

day 19: sunny

Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain.

The weather is so unpredictable here in the Pacific Northwest.  Rain yesterday, sun today… and snow coming this weekend.  So we dress in layers, and in the winter… lots of them.  This is working out quite well for Woolamina and me.  And even though the sun was out… it was super chilly.  I even got out a hat!

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Two words: beach day!  The dogs and I took a little walk down to the beach.  So pretty, but windy and chilly.

sunny

And here we are coming back, through the field that leads to the beach and back.

I also practiced Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging,  going over the foundation steps, and working on the sequences. Trying to get down the Tennessee Walking Step!! I made a blog page yesterday — you can see it HERE.

Here’s what I came up with for today!

sunny

I bundled up.. but put on my Sunglasses.  These are prescription — and come from Zenni. They are super easy to order  And at a fraction of the cost… I think these were about $40 shipped — and they are bifocals!

sunny

Boots are by Keen.  I got them to walk the Camino Santiago… and although I didn’t end up in Spain, as planned, I love these boots — you could wear them for weeks… or 600 hundred miles!

sunny

Today’s layers: Woolamina over leggings, socks, and boots, with Gap Coat and thrift store scarf.  And hat as needed!

sunny

This is one of the $1 scarves that I found at the thrift store the other day.  Doesn’t take up much room, but surprisingly warm.

Hat is one that I designed — you can get a FREE PATTERN HERE.

sunny

This is my favorite eyeglass case — since I am pretty much blind without them, I need to carry a case with my sunglasses for driving.  The girls brought me this back from their trip to Paris a few years ago.

sunny

WHEW!

So great to get some sunshine — soak up the vitamin D — and Vitamin Sea! I was happy to be able to make it down to the beach, and I know the dogs were!

sunny

More to come — so check back often!

You’ll forget the sun in his jealous sky, when we walk the fields of gold.  Sting said it all, on this amazing song.

Tomorrow, I’ll cross my own field of gold and I head down to take a look at the ever-changing coastline that is my beach.

Pretty amazing.

What’s in store this week:

I’m back at the beach… Long Beach Washington, that is.  Today, I had a rhythm class and a vocal class online. Both are put on by the city college, as part of an older adult series.   And it is a nice safe environment to try things out. Get creative.

Still need to lace up my shoes and practice my Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging class.. but it’ll have to wait until tomorrow.  Just to tuckered out with the drive and all  I did go ahead and order the  Frye oxfords… can’t wait until they arrive!  Think they will go with the Dress??? day 13: best shot

Hit me with your best shot… right in the left arm.  And then “hit” Number 1.  Because both of us rolled up our sleeves for the covid vaccine today.

And… It was pretty painless.  Glad that is out of the way.  Next dose in about two weeks.

What’s in store this week:

I’ll be here in Portland on for a few more days, before heading back to the coast.  I practiced my drum… one of my daily goals for the month. And today is February 1st, which is the beginning of Figuary — where you draw figures for every day of the month.

I start the Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging class today, as well — the first module was released online… and then we get together over zoom on Saturday.  Super excited about that one.   I got some new vintage shoes, with leather soles on Etsy.  They are a bit big, but nice thick soles, and hand-stitched. Should make nice crisp taps!

Here’s what I came up with for today!

day12: left foot in

You put your left foot in…. you put your left foot out….and you know how the rest goes. Pretty soon you are doing the hokey- pokey, transformed back to the rollercade.

My days of skating are long past, but yoga is a bit of “put your left foot in” — at least for me it is.

I love yoga.  Mostly I love it when I am finished doing yoga.  Especially when I was doing Bikram yoga….

For those of you just joining…I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my residential choice.

What’s in store this week:

I’ll be driving to Portalnd on Sunday, after i finish the 7th and final day of the Bodhran drum challenge.   But have learned a LOT… and am considering lessons or workshops. I’ll have to decide which.   This is part of my personal goal to keep learning new things.   On the First, I start the Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging class.  Super excited about that one.  I am still working on sweater #2 for the 12 sweater goal I have this year ( photo below!) Whew.

Gap  gray and white stripped long sleeve t-shirt over Woolamina, followed by Mossimo Supply zip hoodie.

Boots are my ancient Uggs, perfectly broken in, and extremely comfortable.

Top it all off with the  Black Yoga Poncho, also from the Gap.

Kangaroo pocket in the front, and has a fantastic hood.

Number 1 gave me the  fabulous yoga mat bag by ELENTURE

Super handy, and has generous pocket for keys and phones.

It may not be my most polished look, but it makes up for it in comfort… and that is what I needed today.  A little self- care and comfort. And Downward dog.

(And that is a STANLEY French Press on the counter in the top photo!)

That’s it for now.  On to some… Left foot in, left foot out, hokey-pokey yoga!
