day 83 of #tracywearswool: walk on boy

It’s #tracywearswool day 83 out of 100, and we are just walking on through the days, here.

I can’t say enough about this challenge.  If you are at all considering it… but have any questions, please reach out to me…. you use my social media links at the bottom of this page, and contact me through Instagram or Facebook  I would be more than happy to talk to you and add you to the AMAZING Facebook Group.  Although it is a private group, and most people are on the challenge, there are a few people who are either waiting for their dress or who are still deciding.  It is a great resource, , and a great way to get fabulous ideas on dressing your dress up…. or down.

By the way, I have referenced one of my favorite Doc Watson songs, And I am bringing it to you here by Sierra Hull:

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Amazingly warm in the PNW… and I get to pick up Number 1 from the Airport.  She has been visiting her father in Columbia for a few months…. nice change of scenery.

Knitting, singing, and blogging.  And of course, playing with the dogs!!

#tracywearswool 83

That is Rainey, frogging in the grass.  She wears diapers because she has Spina Bifida.  You can read more about her story on FINDING RAINEY.

#tracywearswool 83

These days are just flying by! And today, we have perfect weather… still a bit of a chill, but gloriously warm in the sun!

I threw on my trusty oversized Old Navy Chambray shirt over my Woolamina.

#tracywearswool 82

If I was to do a capsule wardrobe, that shirt and this dress would make the list. If I do the Camino Santiago in the fall, I will swap out the sleeveless Sierra for the Rowena, and maybe take a backup…just in case.

#tracywearswool 83

These fabulous tights were handed down from another fabulous Woolander (aka my wool peeps) when she was cleaning house and minimizing.  I just love them.. they add so much fun!

Thanks for joining me on day 83 of #tracywearswool.

Stay tuned for the next 17 days!

Be well, and get out there and make some changes.

day 82 of #tracywearswool: the story

It’s #tracywearswool day 82 out of 100, what’s the story?

Actually, The Story is a fabulous song by Brandi Carlisle — and if you haven’t had a chance to hear it… you should look it up…. HERE!

But mine is a different story… a story about change, about rediscovery, about determining my authentic self and living the best that I can.

I firmly believe that we are not the sum of our past experiences.  We have the ability to chose to change. Or chose not to.   I always say, if you don’t like it, change it.  We all have choices. Some are just easier than others.

So this year I am choosing to grow more vegetables, and eat more plant-based meals.  To give up sugar and wheat because they make me feel crummy. To not use single-serve containers, whenever possible. And I chose to buy more clothes out of natural fibers…. because they feel better, and to walk more because it is good for me.

And that is just a start….

Below — out with the water-sucking lawn, in with the veggie and flower garden!

What’s in store today:

A bit of sunshine, and definitely getting warmer!!  Yee HAW!

Knitting, singing, and blogging.   Making the drive to Portland, and checking out the new garden…

#tracywearswool 82

Still can’t believe that I am on day 82 of #tracywearswool… it has gone by so fast.

Today is simple, Soft flannel plaid over Woolamina, and then hand knit cotton sweater.

#tracywearswool 82

Kind of a frumpy look, but I did take off my thick wool socks for the photos today!!

Showing a little of the white ankles there!!

Those legs will brown up plenty in the summer, and I can’t wait to get them out in the warm sunshine.

#tracywearswool 82

And, I can’t wait to wear my sleeveless Sierra tank…. for the post-challenge!

Think Wool& would sponsor me to walk the Camino Santiago in a dress — I can see the blog heading: 600 mile dress!

I’ll have to ask.

Thanks for joining me on day 82 of #tracywearswool.

Stay tuned for the next 18 days!

Be well, and get out there and make some changes.

day 81 of #tracywearswool: times they are a changin’

#tracywearswool day 81 out of 100, and for me, the times are a changin’!

This whole dress thing has been a game-changer for me.  I am not quite sure exactly what I was thinking when I signed up.  I didn’t think it over that much.  Just saw an ad on Facebook… and thought ” how cool is that”.  I thought that the people I saw looked like people I would want to know.  Real people, from a hugely diversified group, all brought together by a single item: the dress.

And that was it. I was in.  Ordered the dress — which I named Woolamina — my iron-gray Rowena  And I haven’t regretted one moment of it.

Although the deal is — you photograph yourself in the dress and take a photo every day, and post on social media.  That seemed pretty easy… so I upped the ante.  I decided to write a blog post every day for the same 100 days — as a way to get back into a good blogging routine (OK… to start a good blogging routine.)

And along the way, I have started some other challenges, too…. entirely made up by myself — the 12 sweaters in 2021 knitting challenge, and an Appalachian flatfooting and clogging challenge — to become a dancer in 8 weeks.  I am currently working on sweater #4, and have a newfound appreciation and sense of humor regarding my dancing skills.

I feel centered, and grounded, and like I have accomplished some things during this incredibly strange time.   I have started listening to more audiobooks, and worked on personal growth.  I have made life changes, like cutting off two feet of hair, dancing every morning, and wearing a dress every day.

And, I think I have become a better me.

And today’s inspiration came from the following version of an old favorite:

What’s in store today:

Another day in the 40’s with hail in the morning, but sun in the afternoon.  Crazy, changing every 20 minutes!

Knitting, singing, and blogging.   Had a little drumming and laughing out by the campfire tonight (socially distancing, of course.) Always good to connect with friends- old and new.

#tracywearswool 81

What is up with this weather?? I have no idea!  But soon I will be wondering how it got so hot!  Luckily there is always the beach!

#tracywearswool 81

I have on two dresses — a black stretchy swing dress by Molerani ($21 on AMAZON – click HERE) layered over Woolamina.  And my Ann Taylor Loft thrift store find on top of that.

#tracywearswool 81

Since it was still chilly, I wore my Fleece Lined Leggings

and my favorite older-than-dirt wool boot socks with my Keens.

#tracywearswool 81

I got a 10 pack of these cool 100% silk headbands a few months back, for $16, and split them with Number 1.  We both really love them. Great for bedhead!

Punched sterling earrings have been around for years.

#tracywearswool day 80 out of 100, less than 3 weeks left.

My how the time flies.

I guess it is that way when you keep busy… or when you get old. I can’t tell which, for me.

I try to keep busy, especially since I am on my streak of trying to learn new things daily.  I figure that there will be plenty of time for us to rest when we are angels in heaven.

But for now… I will keep learning and working on new things.  I am branching into more freestyle in Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging, and working on designing new sweaters –part of my 12 sweaters in 2021  goal.

And I am feeling the urge to get back to urban and landscape sketching & watercolor.  It’ll be great to work outside in the warm weather… whenever that is. AND, I think it will be a fun habit to cultivate for when I can travel again– instead of photos.

And Music! Let’s not forget music…and with that in mind, here is one that has been in my head today!  Angels in Heaven…

What’s in store today:

Back on the Coast, and trying to keep warm.  Good thing I have a super warm coat! And Fleecy tights.

Knitting, singing, and blogging.  And a little of keeping in touch with folks.

#tracywearswool 80

Pretty cold today, so I mostly stayed inside an old sweater, some wool socks, and the heat turned up.  And coffee..  lot’s of nice warm coffee and frothed milk.

Car Coat is by the GAP.  Mug was a gift from my Daughter the Chef.

#tracywearswool 80

When I did go outside, I bundled up in my Gap coat, took off my wool socks, and slipped on my Keens over my fleecy tights.

#tracywearswool 80

And that is about it for the outfit, folks.  I added some earrings from Arizona and splashed on a little face paint.

With my hair being this short, it is pretty easy.  I do use a bit of Bed Head Manipulator to give it a bit of texture.

#tracywearswool 80

These are shots from my Kitchen:

Best coffee maker: NESPRESSO (comes with the frother!)

Cut out single-use waste with Refillable Nespresso Pods (not shown)

Paintbrushes & and a cup I made!

Thanks for joining me on day 80 of #tracywearswool.

#tracywearswool day 79 out of 100, And come Monday…

I’ll be picking up Number 1 from the Airport. She has been gone for a bit, visiting her Father.  We will have so much to catch up on… mostly the new garden project and the sweater I knit for her — part of my 12 sweaters in 2021 project. ( it’s #2, Skylark)  ANd I think she’s been missing her house, and Portland, too.

What’s in store today:

Quiet day. Just wrapping things up before I head back to the coast: over see the garden, do laundry, pick up some groceries.  AndMORE squishy mail, so that means more yarn to review.  It will become sweater #4…

#tracywearswool 79

Brisk out today, so more layers.  It’s spring in the PNW, and damp in Portland.  Columbia shirt over Woolamina and Tights.

Cabella Vest completes the look.

Clearly, I dress for comfort and pockets.

#tracywearswool 79

Just me, outside at Number 1’s getting ready to do some gardening.  You can’t see it, but the cherry blossoms were blooming, and then we got some wind.  It looked like pink snow.  I love it.

#tracywearswool 79

I’ll be heading to some friends next week to check out the Dahlia bulbs that they have.. And I am super excited about it.  the ones e got last year were amazing.   We are going to get twice as many this year!!

#tracywearswool 79

Trusty Keen Kaci Slides.  I just love these, wear them most days instead of slippers!!

This was the yarn I reviewed… Yummy summer colors in cotton.  It will make a great summer sweater!

day 78 of #tracywearswool: Imagine

#tracywearswool day 78 out of 100, Imagine all the people, living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer…. but that is not necessarily a bad thing.  Just ask Uncle Buck!

But I think that what you can dream, you can make a reality. It just takes an unwavering faith in yourself, and a dedication to doing whatever it takes to achieve that goal. We will assume, that the dream is based in reality– at 62, I probably won’t become a world-class ballerina, but I can learn to dance. I probably won’t win a grammy, but I can learn to sing better.

And Imagine if all of us had unwavering faith in ourselves and dedication towards our goals. Imagine what we could accomplish if we all dreamed of peace, and worked on that.

#tracywearswool 78

Dude dreams of peace… but mostly in the context of … why won’t that Rainey Dog give me any peace and quiet!

What’s in store today:

Quiet day. The weather is a bit colder today.  Not to bad of a day to spend most of it inside, keeping warm. And I made a video of my unboxing for yarn…. YAY!! love the squishy mail….

#tracywearswool 78

Multiple layers today, in an effort to keep warm, and look cheerful at the same time.

Started with Woolamina, and threw on an Old Navy Chambray shirt, and a JJill cotton sweater over that.  I think the natural fibers in both help.

#tracywearswool 78

Warmer, but unpredictable.  Yesterday, I had bare legs. And today’s temps ran between 41 & 51 degrees.  I am certainly looking forward to some warmer weather.

#tracywearswool 78

Still, I should be grateful.  No snow, like in some parts of the country. And no having to boil water because of water contamination, like in other places.

#tracywearswool 78

These flowers did not come from the garden, but I sure do love them just the some  I am hoping the new garden will produce tons of cut flowers this coming season.

I can’t wait to get going….
