day 95 of #tracywearswool: staying alive

day 95 of #tracywearswool: staying alive

Day 95 of  #tracywearswool, and I’m staying alive!!

It is quite interesting… I seem to be having more fun — more of a life — than in any other part of my life.  I guess I was too busy having babies,  raising them up, being married, and working hard to get ahead, that I lost track of having fun.  Sure, when the kids were little, and i was a stay at home mom… we had tons of fun.

But now, it is different. I h ave only myself to answer to… and I get to pick who I want to be. Artist, entrepreneur, activist, compassionate communicator, musician, gardener, knitter, dancer — these are things that I can choose.  And theses aren’t the only ones.  I am sure there are things that I want to become that I haven’t even thought of… yet.

It’s all about staying alive.

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

A bit of a rainy day at the coast.  Tomorrow I will be heading back to Portland to check on the garden boxes. The garden up here is coming along, sunflowers growing taller everyday, and nasturtiums poping up everywhere.  And the deer haven’t found the primroses!

I love this shirt… super soft. and paired with my Gap jacket and Gap belt.

Makes for  an outfit that looks like I took some time to ut together.

(Sometimes I worry that I look like I just rolled out of bed!)

#tracywearswool 95

It’s cold and rainy today.  I am just glad that I didn’t pack my jacket away for the summer.  It matches the suhirty pretty well.  Love the warm caramel color.  Belt is from the GAP. I have had it for years, but m pretty sure they still sell it.

#tracywearswool 95

I just want to take a moment and thatnk the folks from Wool& for putting this challenge together.  And also, thank you for bringing us such thoughtfully made, and fabulously styled clothing.  It has been a pleasure!

#tracywearswool 95

Classic leather belt from the Gap.

Favorite boots by Frye, that I use for Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging!

And I clean them both with THIS SADDLE SOAP.

Thanks for joining me on day 95 of #tracywearswool.

Stay tuned for the next 5 days!

Be well, and get out there and enjoy yourself.

Day 94 of  #tracywearswool, and here comes the rain again!

And from what I understand, it might start raining tonight… through the end of my challenge.  I may have to find and ultracool site, and an untracool outfit, for my 100th day.

It is amazing to me that I have worn a dress everyday for the last 98 days.  And … it has been the same dress.  I can say that I have gotten the value out of this one.

More amazing, I have a new Wool dress for after the challenge — a sleeveless gray number.  And I will be ordering my reward dress, so that will give me 3… How long do you thik I can go, if I rotate dresses??

It also means that I have blogged everyday for the last 94 days! Mostly about the dressm but also about knitting and Appalachian flatfooting and clogging.  I will continue the #tracywearswool posts, but probably oly once a week, so that I have more time for my next blog subject…..

But you will have to wait on that one — and tune in on day 101!

What’s in store today:

A gorgeous day at the coast.  And back in Portland, there are planter boxes just waiting for me to come plant them!!

Old Lucky Brand zip uo hoodie – chocolate brown with elephants on it.  Under that is a worn in chambray buttondown shirt from Merona.

It’s back to leggings today, and some boots. In the 50’s today, and down in the 40s tonight.

#tracyearswool 94

But the clematis is starting to climb up the poles, and the deer haven’t gotten to the primroses.

And Boo Boo the black bear hasn’t been around for a few days, digging in the trashcans.

#tracyearswool 94

These Keen boots have been with me quite a few years, and hundreds of miles.  Still super comfy, especially when paired with thick wool socks.

And… the beach is calling….

day 93 of #tracywearswool: final countdown

Day 93 of  #tracywearswool, and the final countdown week. Yeehaa!

It seems to be that the t-shirt over the dress has become my uniform of sorts.  Kinda looks like a skirt.  And shortens it a bit.  I feel like it is more efficient, in a way, not so much fabric as wearing it loose.  And… super comfortable.

I have a confession to make.  I found another swing dress — 100% cotton– that I have been wearing with cotton leggings at a nightgown. Because I can jump out of bed and lounge around in it until I take my shower and get dressed in my challenge dress.  Eventually, I might just get another Rowena for sleeping!

Down to the bottom ribbing of Sweater #4: Love Note for Sarah — It’s part of my 12 sweaters in 2021 challenge. I just have to pick up and knit the sleeves, and put in a neck ribbing — the gold yarn is a provisional cast on and will go away.

What’s in store today:

Just getting things wrapped up before I head to the coast!  I made a little movie with my photos today:

#tracywearswool 93

I think this shirt was a sample — it just has the number 7 written in the neckline in sharpie.  But I picked it up at a thrift store, and love it.  A slightly heavier fabric than most of my tees, but lots of stretch to it.

#tracywearswool 93

Bare legs, because I can.  I used to be self-conscious of my legs — they have always been super muscular, and I have prominent knots on my knee. But now, I am embracing the ME, knobby knees and all. HA!

#tracywearswool 93

Wool socks, and my Keen Kaci Slides.

Ready to take on the day.

day 92 of #tracywearswool: counting flowers on the wall

day 92 of #tracywearswool: counting flowers on the wall

 Day 92 of  #tracywearswool, and apparently, I can’t count.

There a couple of Wool&ers who started on the same day as I did — Innnaguration Day, January 20th.  And somehow I missed a post 2 or 3 days back… so this is it.  I dug the photos off the cloud… and originally, I was going to say something about how I wasn’t happy with the photos, and I goofed up… and blah, blah, blah.  All the negative junk that rolls around in our heads and tells us we aren’t the perfect creatures that we are.

But then I thought, screw it.  We all make mistakes now and then, so let’s be kind to ourselves.  Be happy with the result, no matter what.  Because, it is the process, not the result that is important.

So day 92 is a little out of order, but I don’t care.  I would rather sit in the garden and count the flowers….

What’s in store today:

This was somewhere in the hectic move between the Washington Coast, and arriving in Portland….. not sure exactly … but here goes!!

92 #tracywearswool

ok.  the pink Gap T-shirt is a little small when worn over Woolamina.  Perhaps not the flattering look,  but it was comfortable.

And that is exactly what I needed.

92 #tracywearswool

I am also wearing these wild and crazy LuLaRue leggings.  I got them At Goodwill but saw a super deal on Amazon — you get a mystery pair for $15 –– which is a great price.  Think I will order, because I like the surprise element!

92 #tracywearswool

As Usual, Rainey is photobombing!

And I have on my favorite Keen Sandals.

92 #tracywearswool

And I picked up another copy of the guide for the Camino Santiago…. which I am hoping to go in the Fall.

Great book, I’ve leant/given a few away overthe last years…

And I sent an email to the folks at Wool& about it… 600 miles and a dress.

Thanks for joining me on day 92 of #tracywearswool.

day 91 of #tracywearswool: brown eyed girl

Day 91 of  #tracywearswool, and hey! Where did the time go??

This challenge, for me, has been a giant experiment in trying new things.  It didn’t start out that way but has slowly evolved into an exercise in creativity.  I look at my clothes in a new way… and am starting to do clothes combining.

It is sort of like eating.  Some people eat serially — first the meat, then the potatoes, then the green beans.  And there are some people who eat of bite of one, then a bite of the other, and so forth.  Thirdly, there are the people who stack the fork.  I am falling into the third category, but with clothes.

So I look at what I have, and think ” should the shirt go over, or under the dress, should I add a vest, leggings, or a sweater… and in what order?” And I have been having fun, dressing in ways that suit my creative instinct, instead of what is the most flattering.

Best of all, I get to see what others in the group are doing, and it is a great source of inspiration.

Today, I couldn’t decide if the skirt should go under or over, so I played around with both.  You can decide!

Day 91 of #tracywearswool photobomber: RAINEY.  She’s got her own page, but she keeps photobombing on mine!  RAINEY’S STORY HERE!

What’s in store today:

It is a gloriously sunny day here in Portland Oregon, but I hear we have rain on the way.  Our garden beds are almost complete — I’ll post photos tomorrow.   I started doing a program called Miracle Morning... based on a book by Hal Elrod, and have been loving having a structured morning ritual.  I actually wake up before  5:30 am alarm rings –just to get started. More about  MIRACLE MORNING on my LINKS PAGE!

Dress over the skirt, or skirt over the dress?

Honestly, before the challenge, I wouldn’t think of either.  But now, I am looking at things differently.

It is so much fun.

90 #tracywearswool

In the end, I went with the skirt over. For a nice sunny day, this cotton skirt by FLAX was still nice and cool over the dress. Today, I went without leggings…

And, my favorite Keen Sandals.

Rainey Dog doing her usual photobombing.

She wears diapers because she has Spina Bifida, which makes her very mobile, but fully incontinent.  And she is a total lovebug!

90 #tracywearswool

I’ve had this skirt in my closet for quite some time, but haven’t really worn it. Maybe once.  But I really like it with the dress…. and I think it will be great with my Sierra.

And these are my new glasses!

Day 90 of  #tracywearswool, and actually no need to send in the clowns… because they are already here!

Today I met up with Carolyn, and we had a great time!! I met her through another wool peep — who commented on my post — you have to meet my friend Carolyn.  Anyway, we hit it off, and she decided to join the challenge!!

I ordered her a Fugetek tripod  —like the one I use. Seriously, the best $20 investment for taking selfies!! And today, we met up on Hawthorn Street in Portland, to eat and do the hand-off. (For the most part, we wore masks, and just removed them to eat and take photos!)

What’s in store today:

Thai food lunch on Hawthorn, because the Greek coffee place in the double-decker bus was closed.  Lots of giggles, and great fun.  And a little clowning around. Check out the great tiara and wonderful shirt Carolyn is lending me for my 100th day photo!!

Soft and nubby AnnTaylor Loft Wedgewood blue t-shirt.  Not terribly flattering, but super comfortable.

And If you are in the Portland Area, stop in and see the folks at Pinto Thai Kitchen in Hawthorn. I had a great shrimp salad!

90 #tracywearswool

It was a not too hot day, so I wore Woolamina with the t-shirt on top and these great Athleta Leggings.

And, my favorite Keen Sandals.

90 #tracywearwswool

We ordered from the food cart, and sat outside under the covered patio.

And… there is parking!!  Bonus!!  Carolyn had the Pad Thai and Thai Ice Coffee and was pretty happy.

90 #tracywearswool

These are my favorite blue leggings — technically, they are activewear… but I think they go great under the wool dress.  Not too warm, and have a gusseted crotch… which keeps them hiked up where they are supposed to be.  And, I LOVE the pattern.
