day 85 of #tracywearswool: a satisfied mind

day 85 of #tracywearswool: a satisfied mind

Day 85 of #tracywearswool  — and I’m richer by far with a satisfied mind!

There’s one thing for certain when it comes my time, I’ll leave this old world, with a satisfied mind. At least I hope so.

And I think I can start working on it now… get it all satisfied and right… long before it’s my time to cash in.

But what does that mean.  I suppose something different for everyone.  Me, I want to feel like I left the world a little bit better that=nn I found it. Like I made my mark, somehow.  I am not sure exactly HOW that will look…. but I am sure it will come to me.

And it is something for me to keep in mind with this #100daydresschallenge., especially 85 days in!

Here is Jeff Buckly singing my favorite version:

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Amazing sunshiny day in Portland… and the days are going to keep getting nicer.  Which is perfect.  I am hoping that we will be able to wrap up the planter boxes and get some seeds planted this weekend.

#tracywearswool 85

Today’s look was particularly fun… I picked up a little 100% cotton knit t-dress at Target and threw it over my Woolaina.   I love the color – reminds me of salted caramel.

Best of all is my handmade bag that Numer 1 brought back from Columbia.

It is all handmade by indigenous people on the coastline of Columbia. Spun out of goat hair, and stitched together with a needle, similar to basket weaving.  The strap is braided.

Number 1 swears that she can smell the little dancing goats.

And I just love it and will cherish it forever.  Check it out below!

Thanks for joining me on day 85 of #tracywearswool.

Stay tuned for the next 15 days!

Be well, and get out there and make some changes.

Day 84 of  #tracywearswool, time it was, oh what a time it was…

And here we are, in the middle of completely crazy times. Bonkers.  How are we to cope??

The first year was so uncertain.  What would happen?? Would the lock last a month?? How would we cope, and would there be enough toilet paper?? And I think many of us were in total disbelief.

And for me, March 2020 was the worst.  I was sick for a month.  103  fevers. Felt like someone sitting on my chest.  And my lungs felt like razors when outside cold hit the warm tissue…causing so much pain.  And the cough, incredible.  Not to mention that everything tasted like dirt. But I got over it, in time.

Looking at that last year, I spent a lot of time waiting.  Waiting to get better, waiting for the lockdowns to let up, waiting for positive news.  I was socially paralyzed, and just waiting.

I looked back after so many months, and thought, what have I accomplished during this time of lockdown? What have I done to replace all my old activities? How have I moved forward? And the truth is … I didn’t do much, change much, or grow much. So, I decided to change all that.

What’s in store today:

Crazy 72 degrees in Portland today.  Wow!! And a great day to enjoy the day outside.

Knitting, singing, and blogging. I played with the dogs, and met a friend for coffee who is considering the challenge!  And Happy Hour — made it to the local taco place with Number 1 for some yummy food and adult beverages.

Day 84 of #tracywearswool and the color is definitely pink.  I love this pink floral Edie Bauer blouse over Woolamina, then topped with the Cabela denim vest.

#tracywearswool 84

Still… Legs are enjoying the 72 degree weather, and believe me, this is considered “tan” for the Pacific Northwest.

” Wow, you been on vacation??” I get it all the time…  (bwahahahha… just kidding!)

#tracywearswool 84

But not to worry, pretty soon, I will be brown as a berry from the beach sun, and wearing my post-challenge sleeveless reward dress!  Which color should I order… there are so many cool ones!!

#tracywearswool 84

These are some of very favorite Dansko mary-jane clogs!  Super comfy, and they look a little dressy!

And the Dude — always on high alert.  Super sweet, little old man-dog.

It’s #tracywearswool day 83 out of 100, and we are just walking on through the days, here.

I can’t say enough about this challenge.  If you are at all considering it… but have any questions, please reach out to me…. you use my social media links at the bottom of this page, and contact me through Instagram or Facebook  I would be more than happy to talk to you and add you to the AMAZING Facebook Group.  Although it is a private group, and most people are on the challenge, there are a few people who are either waiting for their dress or who are still deciding.  It is a great resource, , and a great way to get fabulous ideas on dressing your dress up…. or down.

By the way, I have referenced one of my favorite Doc Watson songs, And I am bringing it to you here by Sierra Hull:

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Amazingly warm in the PNW… and I get to pick up Number 1 from the Airport.  She has been visiting her father in Columbia for a few months…. nice change of scenery.

Knitting, singing, and blogging.  And of course, playing with the dogs!!

#tracywearswool 83

That is Rainey, frogging in the grass.  She wears diapers because she has Spina Bifida.  You can read more about her story on FINDING RAINEY.

#tracywearswool 83

These days are just flying by! And today, we have perfect weather… still a bit of a chill, but gloriously warm in the sun!

I threw on my trusty oversized Old Navy Chambray shirt over my Woolamina.

#tracywearswool 82

If I was to do a capsule wardrobe, that shirt and this dress would make the list. If I do the Camino Santiago in the fall, I will swap out the sleeveless Sierra for the Rowena, and maybe take a backup…just in case.

#tracywearswool 83

These fabulous tights were handed down from another fabulous Woolander (aka my wool peeps) when she was cleaning house and minimizing.  I just love them.. they add so much fun!

Thanks for joining me on day 83 of #tracywearswool.

Stay tuned for the next 17 days!

Be well, and get out there and make some changes.

day 82 of #tracywearswool: the story

day 82 of #tracywearswool: the story

It’s #tracywearswool day 82 out of 100, what’s the story?

Actually, The Story is a fabulous song by Brandi Carlisle — and if you haven’t had a chance to hear it… you should look it up…. HERE!

But mine is a different story… a story about change, about rediscovery, about determining my authentic self and living the best that I can.

I firmly believe that we are not the sum of our past experiences.  We have the ability to chose to change. Or chose not to.   I always say, if you don’t like it, change it.  We all have choices. Some are just easier than others.

So this year I am choosing to grow more vegetables, and eat more plant-based meals.  To give up sugar and wheat because they make me feel crummy. To not use single-serve containers, whenever possible. And I chose to buy more clothes out of natural fibers…. because they feel better, and to walk more because it is good for me.

And that is just a start….

Below — out with the water-sucking lawn, in with the veggie and flower garden!

What’s in store today:

A bit of sunshine, and definitely getting warmer!!  Yee HAW!

Knitting, singing, and blogging.   Making the drive to Portland, and checking out the new garden…

#tracywearswool 82

Still can’t believe that I am on day 82 of #tracywearswool… it has gone by so fast.

Today is simple, Soft flannel plaid over Woolamina, and then hand knit cotton sweater.

#tracywearswool 82

Kind of a frumpy look, but I did take off my thick wool socks for the photos today!!

Showing a little of the white ankles there!!

Those legs will brown up plenty in the summer, and I can’t wait to get them out in the warm sunshine.

#tracywearswool 82

And, I can’t wait to wear my sleeveless Sierra tank…. for the post-challenge!

Think Wool& would sponsor me to walk the Camino Santiago in a dress — I can see the blog heading: 600 mile dress!

I’ll have to ask.

Thanks for joining me on day 82 of #tracywearswool.

Stay tuned for the next 18 days!

Be well, and get out there and make some changes.

day 81 of #tracywearswool: times they are a changin’

#tracywearswool day 81 out of 100, and for me, the times are a changin’!

This whole dress thing has been a game-changer for me.  I am not quite sure exactly what I was thinking when I signed up.  I didn’t think it over that much.  Just saw an ad on Facebook… and thought ” how cool is that”.  I thought that the people I saw looked like people I would want to know.  Real people, from a hugely diversified group, all brought together by a single item: the dress.

And that was it. I was in.  Ordered the dress — which I named Woolamina — my iron-gray Rowena  And I haven’t regretted one moment of it.

Although the deal is — you photograph yourself in the dress and take a photo every day, and post on social media.  That seemed pretty easy… so I upped the ante.  I decided to write a blog post every day for the same 100 days — as a way to get back into a good blogging routine (OK… to start a good blogging routine.)

And along the way, I have started some other challenges, too…. entirely made up by myself — the 12 sweaters in 2021 knitting challenge, and an Appalachian flatfooting and clogging challenge — to become a dancer in 8 weeks.  I am currently working on sweater #4, and have a newfound appreciation and sense of humor regarding my dancing skills.

I feel centered, and grounded, and like I have accomplished some things during this incredibly strange time.   I have started listening to more audiobooks, and worked on personal growth.  I have made life changes, like cutting off two feet of hair, dancing every morning, and wearing a dress every day.

And, I think I have become a better me.

And today’s inspiration came from the following version of an old favorite:

What’s in store today:

Another day in the 40’s with hail in the morning, but sun in the afternoon.  Crazy, changing every 20 minutes!

Knitting, singing, and blogging.   Had a little drumming and laughing out by the campfire tonight (socially distancing, of course.) Always good to connect with friends- old and new.

#tracywearswool 81

What is up with this weather?? I have no idea!  But soon I will be wondering how it got so hot!  Luckily there is always the beach!

#tracywearswool 81

I have on two dresses — a black stretchy swing dress by Molerani ($21 on AMAZON – click HERE) layered over Woolamina.  And my Ann Taylor Loft thrift store find on top of that.

#tracywearswool 81

Since it was still chilly, I wore my Fleece Lined Leggings

and my favorite older-than-dirt wool boot socks with my Keens.

#tracywearswool 81

I got a 10 pack of these cool 100% silk headbands a few months back, for $16, and split them with Number 1.  We both really love them. Great for bedhead!

Punched sterling earrings have been around for years.
