day 30: banana republic

day 30: banana republic

Down to the Banana Republic. Down to the tropical sun.

Sounds pretty good to me, as I sit freezing my fanny off in the Pacific Northwest.  Really, never thought I would see snow at the beach, but there you have it.   Cold, Icy and Windy.

But at Number 1’s house, she has the best shower in the universe.  And her stackable washer and dryer are in the bathroom, so you can put your towel and turn the dryer on to warm up the towel.  Almost like being in a banana republic. Warm, muggy.  Just without the bugs!!

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Other than a short trip to Trader Joe’s, it was a stay at home kind of day.  Which means cozy flannel shirts and uggs.

I practiced the sequences for the latest humbling experiences – shuffles and slides —  it’s for my Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging class.  Not sure why it is taking so long to learn — I blame dyslexia. The right and left thing is … well pretty baffling! You can track my dancing progress HERE.

I also finished  my SOCK! I could hardly put it down.  It is so much fun watching it knit up with the different stripes.  (I LOVE this Self Striping Sock Yarn!  Learn More HERE)

I am thinking of starting at the other end of the yarn ball, so the stripes on the next sock will be reversed!  Might be fun.  These will definitely be a lot of fun with my hiking boots.

Here’s what I came up with for today!

banana republic

Who doesn’t love a comfy flanel shirt, slightly oversized, super soft, and very comforting.  This one, I picked up on my last trip to the thrift store.   New, without tags… and $2. Score.

banana republic

Uggs are ancient, and leggings are from the GAP.

These are my two furbabies.  Dude is almost 9 — cattle dog/rat terrier mix, rescued from a kill shelter in Arizona 8 years ago.

banana republic

Rainey is a special needs rescue bulldog from Lily’s Pad Rescue.  She wears diapers because she has spina bifida.  But she gets around pretty well.  More on the dogs HERE!

banaba republic

How fast does that little bulldog move…. pretty darn fast!  And she hears that camera click… and want’s in on the action!  Go Rainey!  Dude is hiding…

Tomorrow — back to the beach!

Thanks for joining me on my banana republic post.  Stay tuned for the next 90 days of #tracywearswool!

day 29: my dogs and me

Life is good for my dogs and me.

Just me and the four-legged children.  The others have fled the nest — two in San Francisco, one in New York, and one in Portland.

I am currently at Number 1’s house in Portland.  She is away, so I have taken over.  Nice.  So if you see me in a lot of different clothes…. well, I am borrowing from her closet!

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Cold and snow in Portland.  Yeah… I think I’ll stay in.

So I logged into my zoom rhythm class and beat my bodrhan a bit.  And I worked on learning the sequences for the latest module – shuffles and slides —  it’s for my Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging class.  I am still  getting the hang of it — but then I started out not knowing ANYTHING! You can track my dancing progress HERE.

I also worked on my SOCK! I could hardly put it down.   Learn more HERE. I LOVE this Self Striping Sock Yarn!  Learn More HERE

dogs and me

Here’s what I came up with for today!

dogs and me

It started out with a button down knitted dress, that I think might be best worn as a duster , or open as a sweater.  It is from Territory Ahead, and haven’t really worn it — mostly because as a dress, it doesn’t seem overly flattering.

dogs and me

Little black boots are GH Bass, but I got them from Goodwill — looks like they were never worn.  Very Comfortable.  And I like the laces.

dogs and me

I think I like the dress belted under this sweater… keeps it from looking all too blobby.

Photobombing by Rainey – Me and my dogs… or one of them.  The other hides when I start taking photos!

dogs and me

Meh… I think I like the sweater open… Just Meh.

It is super comfortable, though.   I borrowed a belt from Number 1, who is a lot smaller, so maybe… if I had a larger belt to go over the red dress….

Thanks for checking in and reading my dogs and me post.  Comment below — do you like red dress open or buttoned?

day 28: dream a little dream

day 28: dream a little dream

Dream a little dream, maybe of a simpler life… or maybe just a warmer life!

And I really can’t complain.  The sun came out for a bit at the beach, and it was so wonderful.  And then I drove to Portland.  But, really, I am grateful to be in a part of town that has electricity.  Especially since there is snow on the ground….

Still… a couple of days in the 80’s would be pretty amazing.  Or… a hot tub. I would settle for either, at this point. Leaning toward the hot tub, now that I think of it…

What’s in store today:

Cold and snow in Portland.  Today is Mardi Gras, but I am hanging in for the evening.

I continued on module 3 – shuffles and slides — for my Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging class.  It’s really fun and really gratifying… and quite humbling — all at the same time.  I started as a complete beginner — You can track my dancing progress HERE.

I made it to Portland where it is quite cold and lots of snow on the ground and downed trees and branches. We had a few in the yard from the neighbors’ tree.

dream a little dream

Here’s what I came up with for today!

dream a little dream

Super comfortable outfit that will carry me through the sun at the coast, the 120 mile drive, and then the snow in portland.

I wear a lot of vests… so great for pockets for my keys and phone, without the bulk of a jacket.

dream a little dream

This vest is from Cabelas, and I think i got it back in 2012 or so.  It has held up remarkably well… mostly because I lost it in the back of an incredibly large closet for a few years…

One of my favorites — wear it all 4 seasons.

dream a little dream

Rubber boots are by Hunter.  And they will be the only rubber boots I buy from here on out.  Can’t beat the quality, and they are actually quite warm.

Dream a little dream of RVing?? Take a peek inside my RV lifestyle HERE!

dream a little dreaam

I picked this pink flannel shirt up at Target at the end of last year.  Nice heavy flannel, so perfect for an overshirt.

And… It looks like the daffodils are going to be blooming by the time I get back to the coast!!

day 27: rainy day people

day 27: rainy day people

Rainy day people all know there’s no sorrow they can’t rise above. — Gordon Lightfoot

There seems to be a lot of sorrow these days, a lot of things that aren’t exactly working out the way we planned.  But that is life sometimes. Unfortunately. My goal is to just try to be a better person and rise above the sorrows, by focusing on all the good things that life has to offer.

I’ve got a roof over my head, and a car that runs, kids that love me, and parents who are still alive.  I have dogs, and a beach to walk on. I have enough food, and clothes to wear. I make enough money to pay my bills and have joy in my life.  I laugh, and sing, and dance daily. I have a lot to be thankful for. And I am grateful for that.

What’s in store today:

More rain and wind. And if I go to Portland tomorrow, I will probably get some snow and ice.

I started a new Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging module — and this segment is going to take some practice. You can track my dancing progress HERE.

Oh… and made some progress on my Valentine’s socks…. Loving this selfstriping socks.  You can get this yarn — and it’s on sale for $15 while supplies last — click HERE, and use the code TRACY15 for an ADDITIONAL 15 % discount on all the yarn and other great products from Darn Good Yarn!!

rainy day people

Here’s what I came up with for today!

rainy day people

Vintage Pendelton shirt, 100% cotton, great plaid. Perfect for rainy day people and the Pacific Northwest.

The sweater is from Columbia, but I am pretty sure I picked it up from Goodwill for a song. Love the metal buttons.

Today’s Layers: Woolamina and Gray Gap Leggings topped with the Pendelton Shirt, and Columbia cable knit sweater.

day 26: wooly bully

This photo makes me look a little like a bully! But a wooly bully would be ok.

I am not quite sure what I was thinking when I put together this outfit. Seriously.  It started with the shirt.  Which I love, even though it is 2 sizes too big.  Then, I thought, aprons are good.  And I haven’t really worn this one…

The weather was a bit nicer, so I headed out to the woodshed.  Because there’s nothing like a woman in a dress hanging out in the woodshed with a huge apron on.  Not to mention the shirt….

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

A little warmer today… rain instead of snow.

I kept up with my dance practice — and the rigor mortis is starting to subside on my legs and backside. It is a workout!  You can see my newest blog post about that HERE.

And I practiced online with Youtube for my Bodrhan.  Still trying to get my stick hand moving faster. Timing is everything!

Oh… and I started some new wooly socks… stay tuned for progress photos.  You can get this yarn HERE, and use the code TRACY15 for a 15 % discount on all the yarn and other great products from Darn Good Yarn!!

Here’s what I came up with for today!

wooly

OK.. I like these photos a bit better! Whew.

Earrings are coral and come from New Mexico.  I just love them, and now that I have thinned out my jewelry box, I will be able to find them.

wooly

The pin-tucked tuxedo shirt is from Gloria Vanderbuilt. 100% cotton, as old as the hills, and comfy as all get out. I almost had it in the donate bag… because it is  super large, but I like it as a big smock.

wooly

The denim apron is from Ikea. I got it to bar-b-que, but it is pretty handy with the kangaroo pocket.

For those who don’t know I live in my RV full time… more about my RV lifestyle HERE!

wooly

More on the Apron — I don’t think it was very expensive, and it was the last one there.  At around $8,  this sturdy heavy apron will last quite a while.  Extra long ties — one size fits most.
