day 65 of tracywearswool: purple haze

tracywearswool day 65 out of 100 — and I thought I would finally try the t-shirt thing!

There is a person in our Facebook Group that always looks so put together, and she frequently wears a tied-up t-shirt. (I feel I shouldn’t divulge her name in this blog – because it is a private group!) But if you are in the group… you probably know who she is!

This is my first attempt, and I was not sure if I was doing it right, or if it worked.  But heck, it was comfortable. And it was nice and bright purple against the gray haze of the Portland sky.

For those of you new to this blog …I am involved in a 100-Day Challenge, put on by Wool&  —  Same dress.  100 days. (And yes, you can wash it!) Part of my reasons for deciding to do this was to simplify my life, especially with my lifestyle.

What’s in store today:

Knitting and planning my morning while in bed predawn with the dogs.  It is getting to be a habit — but only in Portland. My RV has a murphy bed… so not so well set up for coffee in bed.  Better when I have a couch and table.  pretty much hung around the house, knitting, podcasts, and catching up with friends on the phone. I did meet with someone over Zoom about my back and she is going to help me with a specific plan to help strengthen and support my lower back… so I can keep dancing, gardening, etc.

And… down to the last sleeve of my sweater.  (This video is in reverse — taken with my cell phone… so if my knitting looks like some strange lefthanded continental business….)

You can use my COUPON code: TRACY15 to save 15% at check out.

I popped into the new Target in Portland… and they had t-shirts in great colors for $5.. I snagged this grape one as well as a pink one. Perfect weight for tying up.  Will be great over my Sierra!

tracywearswool 65

It’s still pretty gray and drizzly in the Pacific Northwest, and I have been meaning to try some brighter colors…

tracywearswool 65

Well, you won’t lose me in a crowd, that’s for sure.  I will to remember this when all the covid nonsense is over, and I can travel to some music, or yarn festivals!

tracywearswool 65

And of course, it started to rain during photos…. oh well.

This is my work space when I am in Portland, chipping away at my blog, or writing up new patterns for knitting..or shopping for deals!

tracywearswool 65

Thanks for joining me on day 65 of tracywearswool.

Stay tuned for the next 35 days!

.

Be well, and make some music… or dance a little — or knit a sweater!

tracywearswool day 64 out of 100 — breath of spring.

I am thinking about now I could use a little breath of spring.  Really, Living in the Pacific Northwest, the rainy season can just seem to drag on and on.

But look at the bright side… You don’t have to water.  And you don’t need to mow the lawn if there is no sunshine peeking through.  And you can wear rain boots pretty much all year if you want.  And it keeps a lot of tourists away…and relatives who DO visit… don’t stay long. So, there’s always that.

In anticipation of an epically long growing season this year, we are continuing on with the epic garden re-do.  Out with the grass, and in with the giant planter boxes and walkways.  I can’t wait!! Progress so far…

What’s in store today:

Rain and more rain in Portland.  And I did s little something to my low back yesterday…. either dancing too long, or sitting too long…. or maybe both.  So I have to lay off dancing, for today, at least. After a brief trip to the market, and a lovely nap in the afternoon, I pretty much hung around the house, knitting, podcasts, and catching up with friends on the phone.

I love this skirt.  And I think I will be definitely wearing more of it as the weather gets warmer.  One of the best things is that they are completely reversible.

tracywearswool 64

So with just one skirt, you can get a couple of completely different looks, depending on how you style it.  There is a great FB group for inspiration!

And it is a fabulous company, as well.  Woman-Owned. Thoughtfully sourced, and human and earth friendly.

tracywearswool day 63 out of 100 — just loving my Woolamina

I never thought I would love her this month.  I was skeptical in the beginning… I mostly wore pants… 95% of the time… and she was, well, a dress. But all relationships require compromise — so I have gotten to be a “dress” person, and she doesn’t care what I wear with her.  And the nice thing about the iron-gray Rowena — everything goes with it.  So, for us, it works marvelously.

I am starting to become a makeup and hair person. That is definitely new — and I like to think an improvement.  I don’t necessarily want to look all made up…. but maybe not look older than I am.  That works for me!

But I still reserve the right to have messy hair and hiking boots with my dress! Just I case I do want to go down on the corner!

I am kind of excited about getting my reward dress — going for sleeveless for the summer.

And not surprising — some of us are a LOT alike.  Nice when that happens. Finding a group of people you connect with.  This is so much more than 100 days.

What’s in store today:

It was a rainy day in Portland, And I hung around the house, inside, dancing, and writing, and playing music in an online jam in the evening.

It’s my utilitarian uniform today… with a twist.  Thais chambray Old Navy chambray shirt goes with everything, and mostly, Woolamina.  I have also worn it buttoned and belted…. both looks work.

tracywearswool 63

Show stealer is my Taylor Mini GS.  It is the perfect size for me….3/4 adds lots of portability.  And it doesn’t skimp on sound, just because she’s smaller.

She can hold her own in any jam.

TOE SOCKS always add a little snap to any outfit.

I like to drive my kids crazy by wearing socks with sandals.  For some reason… it angers them to see it!

I think these came from Target in the $3 section.

Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging with Tracy week 7

Appalachian Flatfooting and Clogging with Tracy week 7 brought all sorts of bits and bobs and endings and riffs.  And ended at the market….

It has been so much fun learning how to be a dancer. I can’t get over it.  Although humbling at times — I have given up all pride, and just go with it.  Really, it is about time I stopped caring about what other people think… because I think…

Just one course with Carla…. and she’s practicing where??

This was the important stuff — what I actually learned.  The riffs.  One thing I definitely learned… it is the process, not the end results that count.  I may not be perfect, but I am having a heck of a good time.  And I just don’t want to be beating myself up about my performance.  I just want to dance.

Granny, Does Your Dog Bite?

And me getting jiggy while Teacher is explaining something….

Still working up to longer freestyle sessions… but I have to admit… these sessions are strenuous! Serious… a 5 minute song gives you quite a workout! And some of those fiddle tunes go on forever. I do look forward to a time when I can get my extremities to quiet down a little– not looking so much like I have hornets in my bloomers! I just have to be patient, right??

Until next week!

day 62 of #tracywearswool: hooked on a feeling

tracywearswool day 62 out of 100 — I’m definitely hooked on a feeling — and it is not just the super fine merino wool!

It’s a liberating feeling — not having to worry about what to wear, not have to worry about doing all sorts of laundry, and a feeling of general satisfaction that I am doing something good for the earth.

It’s also a feeling of friendship, as I link arms with women from across the globe, all on the same mission.  Although we are from different countries, different backgrounds and have different reasons for participating in the challenge, I am finding this to be true:

What’s in store today:

Off to Portland, where I danced in the Fred Meyer store. Just because I could.

Definately a favorite of tracywearswool — and perfect for a cold day 62.   Although not wool, I has held up really well.

Carhartt vest — what’s not to love about that, especially in baby blue.

tracywearswool 62

As always, Rainey not wanting to miss out on the excitement of it all.

Me and my dirty chai and her convinced that I have a cookie in my hand.

tracywearswool 62

Although I love the weather of the Pacific Northwest, there are times when I would like a little more sun, and a little less cold.

It’ll be here soon enough, though, and I will be sporting my new wool dress — I have decided on the Sierra in Canyon Red!

Thanks for joining me on my “hooked on a feeling” post.  Stay tuned for the next 39 days of #tracywearswool!

Be well, and learn something new!
